What an implant is
A dental implant is a screw made of pure titanium, anchored in the jawbone as a replacement for the tooth root. After the healing phase a crown, bridge or denture is attached to it.
A full description of the procedure is on our service overview for dental implants. This page describes the treatment in Küsnacht.
Treatment in Küsnacht
In Küsnacht, initial consultation, 3D diagnostics with CBCT, intraoral scan, procedure and prosthetic restoration all take place under one roof. Sedation is organized internally through Dr. Bärtsch.
Before the procedure we take a CBCT scan. Position and axis of the implant are defined in the software. This preparation reduces the risk of injury to the nerve canal and of misalignments that would later be difficult to correct.
Dr. Nord and Colleagues practice
Resident Küsnacht publicly operates as Dr. Nord and Colleagues. Practice lead is Dr. Fredrik Nord, one of the two owners of the Resident practice group. Treatment standards, materials and specialists are the same as at our other locations. Patients from the Gold Coast benefit from local care and from the connection to our cross-location specialist network.
When the case is complex
With multiple implants, extensive bone augmentation, sinus lift or with elevated surgical risk, we transfer the surgical phase to our Zurich Bellevue practice. Dr. Dragisic, oral surgery specialist, treats there. Aftercare returns to Küsnacht.
Materials
We work with Straumann (Switzerland) and Nobel Biocare. Both systems have been on the market for over four decades and are broadly documented clinically. Components remain available long-term.
Insurance and cost estimate
Swiss basic insurance covers implants only in narrowly defined exceptional cases. Supplementary insurance with dental care module may cover part. Before we begin treatment, you receive a written cost estimate.
Aftercare
Implants last long, but only with consistent care. We recommend implant patients two dental hygiene sessions per year and an annual check-up.
