What an implant is
A dental implant is a screw made of pure titanium anchored in the jawbone as a replacement for the tooth root. After the healing phase a crown, bridge or denture is attached to it.
A full description of the procedure is on our service overview for dental implants. This page describes what makes the treatment in Zurich Bellevue distinctive.
Specialist for complex cases
Dr. Dragisic is a specialist for oral surgery. He treats complex implant cases centrally in our Bellevue practice, where bone is built up, the sinus floor is lifted or multiple implants are placed in one session. Patients from other Resident locations are referred to him for these indications, follow-up is provided by the home location.
If you need a simple single-tooth replacement, you can also turn to one of our other locations. Bellevue is the address for cases that require specialist knowledge or extensive surgical preparation.
How we proceed
Before the procedure we take a CBCT image and an intraoral scan. Dr. Dragisic plans position and axis of each implant in software. For complex cases a surgical template is fabricated that transfers the planned position to the patient during the operation.
For simpler cases the implant is placed under local anesthesia. For more extensive procedures or on request we work with sedation through Dr. Benz, who is responsible for Bellevue.
Bone augmentation and sinus lift
After prolonged tooth loss bone has often receded. When needed we build up bone before or during the procedure, with autogenous bone or synthetic material. In the upper jaw posterior region we use the sinus lift. Both procedures are part of the standard repertoire in Bellevue.
Materials
We work with Straumann (Switzerland) and Nobel Biocare. Both systems have been on the market for over four decades and are broadly clinically documented. Components are available long-term, which is relevant when an implant needs to be prosthetically restored after decades.
Multilingual treatment
The Bellevue practice serves an international patient base from the city center and surrounding municipalities. Our team speaks German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Serbo-Croatian. If your first language is not German, state that when booking; we will assign accordingly.
Insurance and cost estimate
Swiss basic insurance covers implants only in narrowly defined exceptional cases such as after an accident. Supplementary insurance with dental care module can cover part. Before we begin treatment, you receive a written cost estimate.
