Background
Dr. med. Cedric Benz is an anesthesiology and intensive care specialist FMH. He studied medicine at the University of Zurich from 1996 to 2003 and also wrote his dissertation there. Resident physician stations followed at the University Hospital Zurich, at the Stadtspital Waid and at the Kantonsspital Aarau, supplemented by a specialization in pediatric anesthesia at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich.
Subsequently he was Senior Physician at the Stadtspital Triemli and Waid, then in a leading function at the Kantonsspital Winterthur, most recently as interim lead physician. From 2021 to 2023 he was medical director at the Privatklinik Bethanien in Zurich. Emergency medical experience he gained as emergency physician of the Swiss Air Rescue (Rega).
In 2023 he became partner of Anästhesiezentrum.ch AG based in Glattpark Opfikon, since 2025 he is the sole owner. Through this model he supervises the outpatient sedations and general anesthesias for Resident.
Clinical focus
For Resident Cedric Benz works at the locations Zurich Bellevue, Rapperswil-Jona and Küsnacht. Standard is intravenous sedation with propofol and, depending on indication, general anesthesia. Focus is outpatient anesthesia in dental setting, in addition intensive care, emergency medicine and pain therapy.
Before every sedation he conducts his own anesthesia pre-examination consultation, in the treatment room he takes over the full monitoring (ECG, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, capnography) and accompanies the recovery phase until safe discharge.
