Background
Dr. med. Gunnar Heller studied medicine and completed his anesthesiology specialist training at the University Hospital Göttingen. In 2006 he moved to Switzerland and took over a leading function in the clinical anesthesia operation, which he holds to this day.
His clinical focus is in perioperative cardio anesthesia for adults as well as in pediatric and infant anesthesia. Part-time he completed an MBA in Management and Leadership in Healthcare, which he completed with distinction. In 2023 he founded together with the anesthesia nursing co-CEO Kerstin Reichert the narkose-team.ch GmbH, a specialized outpatient anesthesia for dental and medical practices in German-speaking Switzerland.
Clinical focus
For Resident Gunnar Heller supervises the sedations and general anesthesias at the locations Winterthur, Berg and Ermatingen. Treated are anxiety patients, children with extensive restorations as well as patients with pre-existing conditions for whom awake treatment is not possible. Standard is intravenous sedation with propofol and, depending on indication and patient preference, general anesthesia.
Before every sedation he conducts his own anesthesia pre-examination consultation in which pre-existing conditions, medications and prior experiences are clarified. In the treatment room he takes over the entire monitoring (ECG, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, capnography) and accompanies the recovery phase until safe discharge.
